Home storage battery systems are eligible for a reimbursement of 80% of the total cost. Each system can receive up to €7,200 and an additional subsidy of €720 per kWh. |
It's worth noting that applicants who choose option B can also apply for option D simultaneously to receive more comprehensive financial support. Additionally, those who opt for installing new photovoltaic systems (options A or B) will be eligible for a 20-year feed-in tariff subsidy from REWS at a fixed rate of 15 cents per kWH.
In addition to supporting solar backup system for home, REWS has also issued four Invitation to Bids (ITBs) targeting entrepreneurs interested in investing in large energy storage systems such as solar farms and wind turbines. These ITBs will cover system capacities ranging from 40 to 1,000 kW.
Miriam Dalli, the Minister for Energy, emphasized the significance of grid-connected renewable energy in reducing carbon footprints for households and businesses. She unveiled plans to make large-scale investments in offshore floating wind farms and solar power plants.
